CSR – Needs Assessment
Investing in early education is crucial for fostering long-term development and success. This case study examines a foundation’s initiative to start and develop a new educational program targeting early education in rural areas. The needs assessment study provides valuable data on current educational infrastructure, activity needs, and stakeholders’ opinions, offering insights for effective program development.
Objective of the Study
The primary objective of this study is to provide data on the current state of early education infrastructure at the national level and to gather potential beneficiaries’ opinions on this topic. This information is essential for the foundation to start and develop a new educational program targeting early education in rural areas, ensuring that it meets the specific needs and challenges of these communities.
Methodology
SAMPLE :(country and regional splits)
- Qual Phase: 7 focus groups with early education teachers, 7 focus groups with parents, 25 in-depth interviews with multiple targets
- Quant Phase: 250 questionnaires with school managers and 725 questionnaires with early education teachers.
METHODOLOGY:
- Qual Phase: online focus groups with parents, online focus groups with early education teachers, in-depth interviews with school managers and educational experts.
- Quant Phase: Mixed Mode questionnaires with school directors and early education teachers.
GEOGRAPHICAL SCOPE: US and EU countries

MAIN RESULTS
The study provided information on the current state of kindergartens in terms of educational infrastructure, educational activity needs, teachers’ training needs, children’s attitudes to kindergarten, and teachers’ perceptions of children’s readiness to go to school.
The study revealed the areas that require quick intervention, highlighting the need for an early education targeted program.
Moreover, the Desk Research analysis also investigated official data/statistics published for early education state as presented on official data/statistics. All the information was analyzed and computed into an integrated research report.

Through this Needs Assessment study, the Foundation learned the following:

An unmet need appears regarding early education that could be filled through a program targeting infrastructure development (especially educational tools and materials) and teacher training.
- There is a need for parental engagement programs as parents are the main influencers in shaping children’s perceptions on education.
